Guiding Values
Zoe actually follows-up with something [she thinks] she said she would on a podcast.
In this past week’s episode, Jackie and I take a reprieve from the typical research format to discuss well, life. As guided by another millennial childhood classic, the cootie catcher (or as Zoe & Jae called them, fortune tellers).
As part of the conversation, Jackie shared her four guiding values. Which made me think, what are mine? So I did think, and this is what I landed on:
Stand tall - be confident in my decisions, actions, and how I put myself out there.
Never apologize - This relates to the above. I, like most female my age that I know, just apologize for no reason. It’s an instinct that we have relied on to fall out of our mouths when we don’t know what else to say. I want to be the first to admit I’m wrong - it does happen - but it better be authentic.
Be the first - my mom was always very late to pick me up. I mean very late. Her life has always been attuned to clock on her own time. I want to to be the reliable parent…the consistent parent. I want to be honest and chill. Not the best friend mom but the one everyone trusts and the house where everyone wants to hang.
Make my own coffee - take time for the details, to do it right the first time. And for myself.
Now, I need to commit them to memory….
